11 Detoxifying foods

Garlic :- Packed with Sulphur, antimicrobial properties and host of anti-oxidants Garlic is one of the best detoxifying agent. Sulphur helps in removing the toxins, the anti microbial properties helps in keeping bacteria and viruses at bay and the anti oxidants protects lever form free radical damage. It not only protects from cancer and diabetes but also removes heavy metals from blood.

Jaggery :- Our beloved and humble Gur is packed with wonders one of them is its detoxifying properties. Traditionally it was given to mine workers as a safeguard against pollution now it can be consumed by everyone considering the air quality.

Leafy Greens :- Whether it is Cabbage, Coriander, Basil, Broccoli or whichever leafy green that you have they are great detoxifying agents because of chlorophyll. It connects with toxins and free radicals to neutralize them thus helping in detoxification.

Dandelion:- You will be surprised to know that this “worthless” weed that grows in your backyard is herbalists’ favorite cleansing agent for liver and kidney purification. Packed with host of phytonutrients and vitamins it removes the free radicals, cleanses the digestive tract and improves the renal health.

Beet Root :- Beet root increases the natural intake of vitamins and nutrients that have detoxifying effect on the liver. Thus it produces more detoxifying enzymes. Beet root increases the immunity by cleansing the blood as it is packed with antioxidants.

Turmeric:- We all know the magic of this golden spice to which we seek help when we are injured, sick or to get healthy skin. Well it also has detoxifying properties primarily because of a compound called curcumin which is an anti-oxidant that produces detoxifying enzymes in body.

Lemon:- Ever heard the advice to drink lemon with warm water as the start of the day, its time to heed to it. This drink has blood cleansing properties, warm water aids in the breakdown of fats and eases the load on your kidneys and the vitamins and minerals in the lemon help the body detox. The rich fiber content aids in better digestion and the minerals that are not removed further helps in increasing the detoxifying enzymes in body. Certain whole grains like Ragi, red rice or black rice are some of the best detoxifying agents.

Water:- This is drink is the essence of life and it has number of health benefits. It prevents blood from getting too thick and it keeps flushing toxins out of the body in different ways.

Other Foods that are exceptionally good detoxifying agents are apple, pear, guava, watermelon, carrot oats, nuts and berries.
